Number Seven Whitby: Turning three separate accommodation websites into one seamless *Whitby experience*

A more polished online experience for a distinctive collection of Whitby stays

Number Seven offers a guesthouse, holiday cottage and apartment in the heart of Whitby. Previously, the accommodation was spread across separate websites, each presenting a different part of the business.

The existing sites were beginning to show their age, particularly on mobile, and no longer reflected the standard or character of the properties themselves.

I brought everything together into one cohesive website, enhanced the existing brand and created a clearer route from discovering the accommodation to checking availability and booking a stay.

The finished website gives visitors clear routes into the guesthouse, cottage and apartment, while also presenting Whitby itself as part of the experience.

The Challenge

Number Seven had several strong accommodation options, but they were being presented through separate websites that no longer felt connected.

The older sites were dated, inconsistent and did not adapt particularly well to mobile devices. That created a disconnect between the quality of the accommodation and the experience people received when researching it online.

The challenge was to bring the properties together without making them blur into one another. Visitors still needed to understand the differences between the guesthouse, cottage and apartment, quickly compare their options and decide which was right for their stay.

Number 7 Guesthouse

One website, without losing what makes each stay different

I consolidated the separate websites into one clear structure, giving the guesthouse, cottage and apartment their own dedicated sections within a shared Number Seven experience.

This created a more consistent journey for visitors while making the wider business easier to understand. Rather than encountering isolated properties, guests can now explore the full range of accommodation available through one website.

Navigation and page structures were kept deliberately straightforward, allowing people to move between accommodation types without losing their place or having to decipher how the business fits together.

Giving Number Seven a more distinctive sense of character

The existing Number Seven brand provided the starting point, but the website needed a stronger visual identity to match the quality of the accommodation.

I developed the look further using a deep blue and gold colour palette, giving the brand a more refined, confident feel without tipping it into faux-luxury nonsense.

The result feels appropriately polished and slightly regal, while still remaining warm and welcoming. Consistent typography, colour and imagery now tie the different properties together as part of one recognisable brand.

Helping visitors quickly find the right room

The guesthouse contains nine bedrooms, each with different layouts, views and features. The website needed to present that information clearly without forcing visitors to read every page like they were revising for an exam.

Room pages highlight the core details people need when choosing where to stay, supported by prominent photography and concise descriptions.

This makes it easier to scan the available options, compare rooms and identify which one best suits the guest’s needs before moving on to availability.

The live website also highlights practical selling points including en-suite facilities, its West Cliff location, sea and Abbey views, breakfast and the property’s historical connection to Dracula.

Presenting the accommodation at its best

A large amount of the existing content was rewritten and restructured to make the website clearer, more consistent and easier to scan.

The majority of the photography was also produced specifically for Number Seven, ensuring the rooms, properties and surrounding location were represented accurately and cohesively.

That combination matters. You can build the cleanest website in Yorkshire, but if the copy is muddled and the photographs look like they were taken through a sock, it will still struggle to sell the stay.

The Outcome

A cohesive website that better reflects the accommodation

The finished website brings Number Seven’s guesthouse, cottage and apartment together within one clearer and more distinctive brand.

Visitors can explore each accommodation type, compare individual rooms, understand the location and move naturally into checking availability through the integrated booking search.

The website is easier to use across mobile and desktop, better reflects the quality of the properties and gives Number Seven a stronger platform for generating direct enquiries and bookings.

Although there are no formal conversion figures available, the website continues to generate a healthy volume of direct enquiry form submissions.
