Damon Cooper Comedy: building the brand before the big break

A digital home built before the career really takes off

Damon Cooper is a Leeds-based stand-up comedian who has spent the last couple of years learning the craft, performing at open mic nights and developing his voice on stage.

With comedy becoming a serious long-term ambition, the next step was giving him somewhere more permanent than social media to build a profile.

I created the brand and website together, giving Damon a bold visual identity and a digital home where promoters can find out more, watch clips, view upcoming gigs and get in touch.

The full site is still being developed content-wise, with a launch planned for later this year. In the meantime, a stripped-back landing page is already live to begin establishing the brand online.

The
challenge

Building a profile before there is years of material to lean on.

Most established comedians have plenty to work with: tour posters, press quotes, television appearances, festival reviews and endless live photography.

An emerging act does not.

The challenge here was to create something that already feels confident and professional without pretending Damon is further into his career than he actually is.

The website needed to give promoters enough to understand who he is, see how he performs and contact him, while also giving audiences somewhere to discover upcoming dates and follow what he is doing.

It had to feel like the start of something, not a placeholder waiting for the “real” career to begin.

Creating an identity with enough personality to carry the site

There was no existing visual identity to work from, so the brand was developed alongside the website.

The direction uses a stripped-back palette of black, cream and yellow, paired with oversized condensed typography and bold photography to give the site the energy of live stand-up without falling into the usual comedy-site clichés.

The DAMON. wordmark, graphic shapes, ticker-style elements and oversized headlines all work together to give the site a recognisable visual language that can grow beyond the website into posters, social content and future promotional material.

The aim was to create something that feels confident, modern and slightly rough around the edges in the right way.

Giving promoters and audiences somewhere useful to land

The full website is structured around the information people are most likely to need.

The homepage introduces Damon quickly and gives immediate routes into upcoming gigs, video clips and background information. The About page builds out the story in more detail, while the Gigs section provides a clear home for future performance dates.

A dedicated contact page gives promoters, press and collaborators a straightforward way to get in touch without digging through social profiles or old posts.

The Watch section gives Damon somewhere to collect performance clips as they build up over time, helping the site become more useful as his body of work grows.

A platform designed to grow with the act

The website has been deliberately built as a foundation rather than a finished monument.

As Damon performs more gigs, gets better footage, gathers press quotes and builds a stronger live reputation, the site can expand with him without needing to be reinvented.

New dates can be added, video content refreshed and the About section developed as the story grows.

That flexibility matters because the site is being created early in the journey. Instead of bolting a website on once things get busy, the digital presence is already in place and ready to evolve alongside the career.

The
outcome

A professional starting point for the next stage.

Damon now has a clear visual identity and a proper digital home built around where he wants to take his comedy.

The site gives promoters somewhere to quickly understand the act, watch clips and make contact, while audiences have a central place to find upcoming gigs and follow what comes next.

More importantly, the brand already feels considered and recognisable before the career has fully taken off.

The finished site is not trying to make Damon look like an established touring comic.

It is designed to make the next step easier when those opportunities start arriving.

I’ve known Glenn since school, so I’ve had plenty of time to see how passionate he is about the work he does and how much he cares about getting things right. When I decided to start taking comedy more seriously, I knew I wanted someone who could help me build something that felt like me rather than just another generic website. Glenn took the time to understand what I’m trying to achieve, created the whole visual direction from scratch and has given me a website and brand I’m genuinely excited to grow into.
